A game company built an online world where you could milk butterflies. People loved it. The team released the game, pulled it back, made some changes, and tried again. It still couldn't attract enough players to pay for itself.
When the game died, it looked like the end, or so it seemed.
Eight people stayed behind with enough money for one more shot. What they built next wasn't a game.
Hi, I'm Jonathan Slaven. I've spent my adult life in business and IT operations, and I'm interested in the decisions behind the technology, especially the ones that look like dead ends until you find out what happened next.
I'm drawing on the storytelling of a previous era, borrowing from the suspense of Paul Harvey and the unexpected connections of James Burke to tell my stories in Or So It Seemed.
What do you think that team built? Put your guess in the comments. Subscribe or follow for the answer next week. I'm on just about every platform.
And like and share this with someone who would want to guess too. That's the most important thing you can do to help me tell my stories.
Let's take a walk together.
