Most businesses that reach out to me are in one of two situations: things are broken and need fixing, or things are growing and IT can't keep up. Sometimes both. Either way, I build on proven best practices that last — not whatever's trending this quarter.
If your IT feels like it's held together with duct tape, you're not alone. Most growing businesses hit this point. The good news is it's fixable — and the fix isn't buying new tools. It's putting sustainable practices in place so things actually stay fixed.
Your business is growing, and your technology needs to grow with it. But growth doesn't mean chasing the newest thing — it means building on solid, proven foundations with the right strategy, the right tools, and the right people.
Every business is different. Here are the most common ways I work with clients — but I'm happy to shape something that fits your situation.
I lead the engagement and own the relationship, but I don't pretend to do everything myself. When a project calls for specialized skills — network architecture, cybersecurity, cloud engineering, compliance auditing — I bring in trusted people and partners I've worked with and vetted personally. You get one person to call, and a team behind them when you need it.
An MSP manages your day-to-day IT operations — keeping the lights on, handling tickets, managing your network. I work at the strategic level: figuring out what your technology should look like, making the plan to get there, and making sure it happens. Some of my clients use an MSP for daily operations and bring me in for the bigger-picture work. The two complement each other well.
I work best with small-to-mid-size businesses — typically 50 to 1,000+ employees — that have outgrown their current IT setup but don't need (or can't justify) a full-time CIO or VP of IT. If your technology is becoming a bottleneck for your business, you're probably in the right range.
My background spans healthcare, banking, defense, and consumer goods — all regulated industries with serious compliance requirements. That said, the fundamentals of good IT leadership are the same everywhere. If you're in any industry and your technology isn't serving your business, I can help.
It's a 30-minute conversation — no pitch, no pressure. You tell me what's going on with your technology, I ask some questions, and I'll tell you honestly whether I can help and what that might look like. If we're not a good fit, I'll try to point you in the right direction.
I'm based in Grand Rapids, Michigan and work primarily remotely. For local clients, I'm happy to be on-site when it makes sense. For everyone else, the work happens over video calls, shared documents, and good communication — which is how I managed a globally distributed team in my last role.
Let's have a conversation. Thirty minutes, no commitment, and I'll be straight with you about what I see and whether I can help.
